Behemoth could be a text that Karl Polanyi wanted to write between 1919-1922 in Vienna. It is quoted by Gregory Baum [Baum 1996, 20-24] and Ana Gomez: “'The Behemoth' [01/53, 02/01, 02/02 and 02/03] was written in German by Polanyi while he was in frail health and still recovering from the horrors of the Russian front. It is a journey into the discovery of the origins of human suffering, a theme that permeated his discourse on the ethical foundations of human thought and action” [Gomez 2008, §13]
