Problem of datation

  • We have a problem with the datation of this text. “The Two Meanings of Economic” is the name of the draft article, but not in the final text: “The Economy as Instituted Process”. Identically, “Forms of trade in the Ancient Near East” doesn't exist but “Marketless Trading in Hammurabi's Theme”. So, Polanyi wrote this text before the publication of Trade and Market… So, it should be 1953, 1955 or 1957. Other point: the Project #190 ends in 1953 to evolve in the Council of Research in Social Sciences. Every (other) documents in the file 31/15, are dated between 1947 and 1953. But how Polanyi knows he will published Trade and Market in 1957, with some true pages in his text, as p. 29 for the Oppenheim's article? --Santiago Pinault (talk) 23:08, 5 April 2018 (BST)
