H. Ultimate aims

As a first step, I feel, it is incumbent on me to complete that basic study by applying its leading ideas to the more recent history of Russia. My ultimate aim as a scholar is to contribute to that integration of the social sciences, which is needed to-day in order to resolve the problem of our generation.
