I don’t believe in a totally planned economy. My first paper about a socialist economy, some twenty years ago, was built upon this. Mises attacked me saying that I cherished illusions if I thought that there existed a middle course between a laissez-faire and a totally planned economy.
Today we know what happened to Mises and this point of view of his. In reality today we can see nothing but a middle course.

Je ne crois pas dans une économie totalement planifiée. Mon premier article sur l’économie socialiste, il a quelque vingt ans, partait de là. Mises m’avait attaqué disant que nourrissais des illusions si je pensais qu’il existait une voie entre le laissez-faire et une économie totalement planifiée.
Aujourd’hui nous avons bien ce qui est arrivé à Mises et son point de vue. En réalité, on en voit aujourd’hui rien d’autre que des modèles à cheval entre les deux .
