Application for a Stipend from the Columbia University Council for Research in the Social Sciences (3 March 1952)

As I had occasion to put on record in my last application, I was then hopeful that the manuscript would be ready for print by Summer 1952.

Publication is planned for 1953. I remain confident of the availability of facilities on a business basis, and propose to make arrangements on these lines.

[11] My personal outlook affected by the advance of age, and also by signs of a declining capacity for work. The first will definitively force my retirement from Columbia after 1952/53; the latter makes me eager to secure the results of these last years' scientific efforts, which were attained very largely owing to the help accorded to me by Columbia Council.
